About Us
"At 2850" is a brand collaboration between The Gift Shelf Pack & Ship and Secure Insurance Agency in St. Petersburg, FL.
Since 1962 The Gift Shelf has been serving the community in St. Petersburg with gifts and mailing services as a postal contract station. In 2000, Maryellen and Richard Waskiewicz bought this 900 sq ft gem hidden in a strip mall on US-19 and turned the tiny gift shop into a thriving business center offering many more much-needed services to the surrounding community, such as bill payment, notary services, and business shipping. In 2006 after a very short battle with lung cancer, Rick passed away. Maryellen and her daughter Nichole channeled their grief into the business to keep going. In the years after, the two solidified their reputations in the community as a "one-stop-shop" where customers are family and if they don't know the answer to something, they'll help you find it out.
In 2013, Maryellen opened an insurance agency in the rear of the store to help clients with auto, home, and health insurance and in 2018 started offering her services as a Realtor. In 2018, after a contract change from a Postal Contract Station to an Authorized Shipper, Nichole led the charge to revamp the shipping side of the business to offer private and virtual mailboxes, FedEx and UPS shipping, and other document and design services.
Now in 2020, with Covid-19 wreaking havoc on the U.S. and rest of the world, the girls are adapting again, now offering an online hub to the community for their services called At 2850. Seeing the need for curbside services and safe shopping, they're committed to staying open and serving St. Petersburg through this difficult time. Look for new products and services in the coming weeks that will help you adapt to your new normal while staying safe and shopping small.
